Prospero Health & Social Care is excited to support a hospital in Rotorua with a Paediatric Registrar training position, starting 19 January 2026 for 12 months.

About the Role

This position offers an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic Paediatrics department in Rotorua in a structured training role. Accredited by the RACP, the 12-month placement contributes towards both basic and advanced paediatric training. The programme includes rotations in general paediatrics, rural practice, and community/developmental paediatrics, providing broad exposure and a strong foundation for your paediatric career.

In this role, you will:

  • Collaborate with Paediatricians across General Paediatrics, Neonatology, and Acute Care

  • Manage a variety of paediatric cases in both inpatient and outpatient settings under supervision

  • Participate in acute admissions, including neonatal and high-acuity paediatric care

  • Develop family-centred care skills within a culturally diverse environment

  • Access support from visiting specialists and regional paediatric networks

  • Contribute to teaching and mentorship of junior medical staff and students

What you’ll need

  • Current full registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Medical Council of New Zealand

  • PGY3+ with experience at registrar level in paediatrics (or equivalent)

  • Dedication to paediatrics as a specialty and enthusiasm for training in this field

  • Willingness to actively participate in a collaborative and supportive team
