This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy General Medicine department in Southland, where you’ll work alongside a team of supportive consultants and fellow registrars. The role offers strong teaching, hands-on experience, and exposure to a wide variety of medical presentations, making it ideal for those looking to broaden their skills and progress in training.
In this role, you will:
Be part of a team of experienced General Physicians, many of whom hold dual subspecialty training
Develop broad clinical skills, as all acute medical admissions are admitted under General Medicine
Build subspecialty experience in Cardiology, Respiratory, Endocrinology, Nephrology, and Gastroenterology
Gain exposure to high-acuity medicine, including ICU-level patients, meeting advanced training requirements
Access the expertise of visiting consultants through established regional specialty networks
Manage a diverse caseload of inpatient and outpatient presentations
Current full registration to practise in a comparable health country
At least 1 year of experience as a General Medicine Registrar
Willingness to register with the Medical Council of New Zealand
